Solar Ephemeris Calculation Utility

For calculation of the Solar Ephemeris enter a date in the given format and press the Calculate button! Note: for simple and fast calculations low precision formulae were used - do not expect higher precision than given!

Day UT Julian Date Location of Observer*
Latitude ° " Longitude ° "
Sun @ Position Azimuth ° Sunrise UT
Height ° Sunset UT

*default location is Kanzelhöhe Observatory, Austria
Latitude
Give the Latitude of your location in degrees and minutes (North is positive, S is preceeded by a - sign
Longitude
Give the Longitude of your location in degrees and minutes (West is positive, E is preceeded by a - sign
Julian Date
Consecutively numbered days since Jan 01, 4713 B.C. (days start at noon 12 UTC!)
Azim.
Azimuth of the Sun at your location, reckoned from North eastwards.
Height
Height of the Sun above Horizon at your location. Not corrected for refraction!
Sunrise, Sunset
Sunrise and Sunset at your location in Universal Time (UT). Check for your time zone! Sunrise and Sunset are defined as times where the upper limb of the Solar disk appears to be at the horizon, correction for refraction under normal conditions is considered.
